Asia is looking forward to a strong second half of 2016 with 3 important events held in the Asian region. August will see the Youth World Championship in Bangkok, with over 500 kids expected from all 5 continents, to celebrate friendship, culture and sport in exchange. September will see the Korean Masterships in which 15 combat sports, Olympic and non-Olympic will come together to celebrate the spirit of martial arts, the ancient traditions and the values martial art contributes to society. The later part of September will then see the next edition of the Asian Beach Games in Vietnam, where muaythai will be one of the most popular sports present.
FAMA President and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Mr. Karim Massimov states that FAMA will continue to cooperate between all Asian nations. The fact that 3 major events will be held in Asia in 2016 showcases that muaythai is gaining even more popularity in Asia. FAMA General Secretary, Mr. Mervyn Tan said that 2016 is another important year for muaythai with many events held in all 5 continents being qualifiers for the 2017 World Games in Poland. The Youth World Championship is utmost important as IFMA and FAMA will continue to develop grassroots muaythai, as this is the future of our sport.
