While in 2012 and 2013 major muaythai events, IFMA World Championships and World Combat Games were held in Europe, the year 2014 looks very promising for Asia.
A new agreement has been officially signed between the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and SportAccord in Lausanne today. Following the official opening and welcome speeches of the International Forum in Lausanne, an agreement was signed between President of ANOC Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and President of SportAccord Marius Vizer.
6th of February is the official date of the annual World Muaythai Day held in honour of the historic King Sanphet VIII (also known as “Phra Chao Suea” the “Tiger King”), to mark his coronation day in 1702.
The 8-day multi-sport event showcases the 15 recognised both Olympic and Non-Olympic combat sports. The 2nd edition which was again under patronage of the IOC was held in one of the most historically rich cities in the world, St. Petersburg, Russia.
Sport of any kind has the power to unite and bring together cultures and people, regardless of race or ethnicity. The foundations of muaythai, as one of the oldest martial arts and sports in the world, are honour, respect, tradition, fair play and excellence.

Malaysian NF President/FAMA Vice President, Dato Shah Sami met in Bangkok with Stephan Fox IFMA General Secretary, Charissa Tynan IFMA Sport Director, Yulia Askhadulina Legal Commission secretary, Kiana Guyon IFMA Public Relations manager, and Judith Lockhart Secretary of the IFMA Athletes Commission.
Kazakhstan Youth and Junior Championships will be held from January 22-26 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This will be the official qualifier for the upcoming World Championship held from 1stto 10th of May, in Langkawi, Malaysia.
